01How is HyvivaGrid different from a battery?

Batteries store power for hours or days and slowly lose their charge. HyvivaGrid turns your surplus energy into hydrogen and stores it in a metal hydride with no losses over time, so energy you store in summer is still there in winter.

02Is storing hydrogen at my home or business safe?

Yes. HyvivaGrid doesn't use high-pressure tanks. The hydrogen is stored in metal hydride, which keeps it stable and unpressurized. There's no risk of thermal runaway fires that can affect batteries.

03How long can I store hydrogen energy?

Hours, days, months, or across seasons. Stored hydrogen doesn't discharge over time, so you can save summer surplus for winter, when solar output is lowest.

04Does HyvivaGrid make me independent from the grid?

It can. For most people it greatly reduces what they pay the utility and keeps the power on during outages.

05How do the economics compare to batteries?

HyvivaGrid costs less than batteries at 90kWh or more. That's approximately the energy required by a four bedroom house. Stored hydrogen lasts about three times as long and doesn't need battery replacements.

06How much energy is lost converting solar to hydrogen and back?

Converting electricity to hydrogen and back uses some energy. We achieve about 60% round trip efficiency. But once stored, the hydrogen loses nothing for decades.
